Notes and Variations
If my kids are around, I place the dough back into the bowl you have used to set aside the oats and chocolate. I pass it to the kids to roll into small balls and then place on a baking tray. I usually give their work the ‘once over’, rearranging the balls evenly and flattening them out with a fork or my fingers.

We made our batch with Nuttelex so that they were dairy free. As a result, they didn’t brown quite as well as they do if you use butter.

If you want to make them yourselves, a quicker way is to roll the mixture into a log (or two), wrap in glad wrap and refrigerate for ½ hour. Then slice it and place on the baking tray. I often make a double batch of the mixture and then freeze one lot in these logs (pre-sliced and wrapped). Simply remove from the freezer and defrost until they can be separated and place in the oven. Perfect if we have run out of homemade lunchbox goodies.
